Write about an experience of community, of any
duration, that has been meaningful to you (letting community mean whatever it
may mean to you). What went on in that situation that made it “community”
for you? What was going on in you at that time that made you available to
this community?
Well in my opinion, I have learned what it’s a
community on my own family because my parents have been teaching my siblings
and I how to work together for an specific purpose taking advantage of our different
abilities, so I feel proud saying that not only I have a beautiful family but
also a real community in my family.
1. 2 .Do you feel a “sense of community” with each
subject you study? What is the nature of that relationship? How has your
relationship with your subject enriched your life? Stretched your life?
Challenged your life? Changed your life?
Well I feel a sense of community in a subject that I’m
taking named Didactic II because I have learn how to work with my classmates;
when, we work together we try to suit the activities according to our abilities
for instance if we have to do a presentation in power point and then exposed it
in front of our others classmates, we do a brainstorm about how to do better,
then we share our opinions, the one who has the ability to work on power point
is going to do the presentation, and the others who are good at speaking are
going to talk about it, in front of the others, All of work for the same purpose or with the
same goal which always is to get a good grades in order to pass the subject. Workings
in this way really help me a lot because its entire possible if we do it on the
right way, and the right way is to help each other.
1. 3. As a student, did you have courses that made you
a participant in the community of truth gathered around that subject? If so,
describe how they worked. Compare their impact to courses that simply
introduced you to the facts about the subject.
Well, on my point of view working in a community its
very useful because not only you achieve your goals or your purposes but also
is a way to live, what I mean it’s that working in a community is a key that
open wherever door in your professional life as in your personal life.
Do
you think “the community of truth” is an accurate image of the
way knowledge is
gathered in your field? Why or why not?
Well in my opinion yes because working in a
community means that everyone applies their knowledge using his/ her different
learning styles, and everyone learn new things from the others, so it’s like
interchange of knowledge between the members of the community.
Reflect on the concept of “soft eyes” (p. 113).
Think of a situation where having “soft eyes” might have helped you in the
classroom. Describe what happened, how you reacted, and how you would
have liked to react.
well one day while i was teaching i remember that two
of my students were talking during the class, so i called their attention in
front of the others ,and they not only felt ashamed but also angry with me, this situation would have been better if you had used “soft eyes”
in order to call their attention.
